Security in October 2011

OCT 2011:  The U.S. Transportation Security Administration has presented L-3 Communications a contract for 300 ProVision® ATD personnel screening systems for use at aviation checkpoints. The contract value of this order is $44.8 million and production of these units is underway. The millimeter wave-based ProVision ATD automatically detects potential threats and highlights their location on a generic mannequin that appears on a monitor attached to the ProVision ATD.


OCT 2011:  The Department of Defense has awarded ManTech International Corporation the AMBIANCE contract to provide full spectrum system integration services that support its analytic modernization efforts. The AMBIANCE award is for a base period of 12 months with an option to extend the contract for an additional six years with a total value in excess of $400 million.


OCT 2011:  The U.S. Office of Personnel Management has awarded US Investigations Services, LLC a multi-year contract to conduct background investigative fieldwork services for government agencies. The estimated total value of the contract is approximately $2.45 billion over five years. 
OCT 2011:  An unnamed US based customer has awarded Intermap a provider of location-based information (LBI) solutions created from its uniform, high-resolution 3D digital models of the earth’s surface, a $1.1 million contract for digital mapping services and licensing of Intermap’s NEXTMap database for selected areas in the U.S.
